Is vinyl plank flooring really waterproof?

  • This really is the closest to waterproof flooring that you can get. The most common type and the most durable vinyl – is made out of recycled vinyl materials.  The vinyl itself is naturally water-resistant as well as being resistant to mold and mildew. It can be used anywhere – even places that other types of flooring can’t, like your kitchen or bathroom.  Since it doesn’t let moisture seep in, dangerous mold and mildew aren’t an issue.

If I use vinyl flooring in my office, what precautions should I use?

  • Vinyl floor care and maintenance doesn’t need to be a full-time job.  If you follow a few instructions, you can keep your floors looking as good as the day they were installed. Don’t start vigorous cleaning from the very first day, the Vinyl adhesive needs about 3 days to fully set; by scrubbing it too soon, you could shake it loose. If you have to move heavy furniture or appliances over your flooring always put a piece of soft cloth or a furniture pad over your vinyl flooring. In addition, don’t try to drag heavy stuff over your vinyl flooring.  That way, you can prevent it from tearing.  Use proper doormats to prevent sand, dirt, grids, etc.

Is it recommended to install solid wood flooring in the basement?

  • Usually, we do not recommend using a solid wood floor in the basement, unless the basement is completely waterproof. Normally the basement area is always humid and there is no sufficient sunlight to make it dry. Because of high moisture content, it is not advisable to use solid wood flooring in the basement.
